Butcher paper costumes!
One of my favorite things we do at my school is our annual costume parade! Every year, our office dresses up in home-made costumes and marches through the halls with the rest of the kids in the school. The younger students are on parade while the older students pass out candy to them. Everyone has a great time and the parents even join in the fun! This year’s costume was one of the easiest to make. All we used was butcher paper, glue and yarn! We did all of this without patterns or even trying to draw it first. I can also tell you this is one of the best parades we ever had. Almost all the kids dressed up and brought candy! It was big fun for all!
The play-doh’s were home made from butcher paper also!
Back to school
Everyone is back to school as of this week!! I love the first days back. I even secretly like all the hokey ice breakers because they are usually pretty fun and you get to learn about the other teachers. This year one of our ice breakers was to make a hand and decorate it. We found the idea on pinterest. We made this cute wreath out of all the hands to let everyone know that we all have a hand in learning. Our goal next week is to have the kids make their own hands to add to the wall. I think it will be really cute! I can’t wait to see all the hands on the wall!!
Field Day
Today was field day at my work. I think this is the kids’ favorite day because they get to do all kinds of fun activities. This year our coach decided it would be a good year to have all the upper grade kids have water balloons. I went out to watch the kids as they have fun with the activities, when I saw a group of fifth graders walking up to me suspiciously. As they got closer, I noticed that they had something in their hands, so I took off running. I am really slow or they are really fast, but as they were gaining on me, they started throwing the water balloons at me. One bounced off my back and another hit the ground around me. I felt pretty confident that was it, so I started slowing down and that’s when it happened. WHAM!!! One hit me right in the back of the head. It must have hit JUST right because my whole back and my front managed to get soaked. We all got a huge laugh out of it! I love the kids at my school! They have such a good sense of humor!!
