Never sweep again!!!??? REALLY!!!!???

While at the Walmart in Pflugerville today, I ran across the Slipper Genie!!  This slipper claims to clean your house as you walk around.  Say no more!!!! I was SOLD when I read that. I hate to sweep and with my new dog, Cooper, shedding everywhere, it’s getting to the point that I have to sweep daily. Well, they were only about $5.00, so I bought them and I’m trying them out to see if they work!!  They’re actually kind of comfortable, too! The other nice thing about them is that the sweeper part is velcroed on to the bottom of the slipper, so after a day of walking around my house cleaning, I can just remove the slipper sweeper part and throw it in the washing machine.  I sure hope this works.  I will NEVER sweep again if it does!!!!

Helpful Hint #1

I swear I don’t think I can put on a shirt or dress without getting deodorant all over it. Most of the time I don’t even notice until I am already where I planned on going, but every once in a while I catch it at home. I’ve been getting a wet towel and soaking my shirt to get the deodorant out, but then I get to go out with a wet spot. I looked it up and found a really good tip that really works!!

Get deodorant on your clothes.

Get a nylon and put it on your hand.

Rub it on the deodorant and voila! Deodorant gone!!

Pool time

Yesterday was Memorial Day so I was excited about going swimming. Instead of going to our neighborhood pool, we went over to my super athletic friend’s pool downtown. If you don’t have a friend with a pool downtown, I suggest you get one. The people watching is great because almost everyone is good looking at the pool. It was so much fun. We laid out for a few hours, then went across the street to Lamberts happy hour. They have all their appetizers half off. It’s amazing food. I suggest going there for sure.

Sparkly

Every summer I like to do something different. Last summer it was hair feathers. This year it’s going to be funky fingernails.

I’ve Decided to be High Maintenance

Recently, I decided to start spray tanning.  As I get closer to 50, I figure the spray has to be better for my skin than laying out in the sun all day.  I got a membership to Darque Tan for $40 a month and I can go tan any time I want.  One of the benefits to spray tanning, is it takes about 5 minutes as opposed to 3 – 4 hours in the sun!  I have been going for about 3 weeks and I have a nice tan, I’m just a little worried about turning orange and looking like an Oompa Loompa!

One of the drawbacks to spray tanning is that my nails were starting to look a little yellow.  I even put tons of that cream on my nail beds, but I just felt like I was looking a little sick with the off color nails.  I decided to combat the yellow, I would start getting fake nails.  I went to the salon and they suggested shellac nails.  I just got them done, but I’m sure I’m going to like them better than the acrylics.  My nails don’t feel as thick and they last about 2 weeks.

With all this self improvement, my sister asked me if I was getting ready for the real housewives of Manor!

Home again!

I’m back in Austin and everything is starting to get back to normal.  The only issue I’m having is with allergies.  They are KILLING me.  I’m afraid I’m going to OD on zyrtec, because I’m taking as much as I can to keep the allergies to a minimum.

Yesterday I didn’t wake up and walk because the allergies were so bad.  I made it a point to exercise in the afternoon.  I’m glad I did, because we went to Lady Bird Lake/Town Lake and walked around there.  I love walking by the water.  Even though there are tons of people there, it is very peaceful.  There are small hills there, too, so it’s a little more of a challenge than walking in the neighborhood.

After walking at Lady Bird Lake, we went to Torchy’s for dinner.  I’m pretty sure Torchy’s is my favorite place to eat.  I got queso and a baja shrimp taco.  YUMMY!! It turned out to be a nice evening.

Bluebonnet Beauty

One of the things I love most about my friend, Shannon, is that if we do something fun it becomes an annual event. We have an annual road trip, annual gingerbread house making event, and an annual bluebonnet photo shoot. Because of the drought last year, when we went we found about 3 bluebonnets. It wasn’t a great photo shoot but it was a great time. We went again this year and found a lot more bluebonnets and other windflowers that we could work with. We went to St Edward’s and took blue and yellow flower pictures with our many props. Who doesn’t sit in a field of flowers playing the bongos? It was very normal. We later found a field with some red flowers on the side of the road.  We didn’t use props that time.

Once we were done, we went and ate at Galaxy in the Triangle. I really liked my chimichurri wrap, or whatever it was called. We had a great time just enjoying the day. I’m ready for next year’s shoot!!!

Spring Carnival time!!

My favorite thing about going to carnivals and other fundraising events is the SILENT AUCTION!!! Tonight is our school carnival and I can’t WAIT to start bidding on some of these fantastic baskets.  So far we have about 35 things that people can bid on.  I’m pretty sure I’m going to go for either the candy basket or the salty snack basket! I can only imagine what Mike is going to start bidding on.  I only hope that Avi and he don’t decide they want the same thing, or it could get really expensive for me!!

I’m also up to get pie thrown at my face tonight.  I don’t really like having stuff on my face, but it really doesn’t matter since it’s for the kids. I know they get a kick out of throwing pies at all of us.  (Maybe I’ll get a bunch of kids with bad aim!!)

Drive-by

I was subject to a drive-by statue dressing yesterday. The horror of having your statue defaced in such an inappropriate manner is just too traumatic to discuss. The only way to explain the horror that I experienced is to post a picture.

Thanks friends! My poor statue is even more confused about his sexuality than he ever was before!

Ready to break free!

I haven’t had much of an opportunity to go anywhere in Austin lately. I moved two weeks ago and then last weekend I went out of town. Next week is spring break, so I need something fun to do. I would love suggestions from anyone that would like to share. I’m going to be on my own a lot, since Mike has to work, so I need thing to keep me busy. If anyone wants to volunteer to help keep me occupied with things to do, give me a shout out! 🙂
