Hook ‘Em

I was really excited today when I found these UT running shorts at Marshalls!! I have been watching the Nike UT shorts for a long time, but they are really expensive and the Bevo looks like an iron on.  I’m not even sure what brand these are, but the Bevo is embroidered on, so he should last for as long as I have the shorts.

Did I mention that there are a lot of UT students and Texas Exes in the Olympics!!?  So far they are doing really well!  hree Olympic medals for men’s swimmers today — Brendan Hansen, bronze, 100m breaststroke; Ricky Berens and Jimmy Feigen, silver, 4x100m freestyle relay (qualifying swim). Keep it up and Hook ‘Em Horns!!!

I love to shop!

As you may have noticed, I’m a little obsessed with sundresses.  Today, I was headed to the grocery store when I decided to stop in to Ross For Less instead. I usually don’t go there because I never find anything, but today I got lucky! I found 3 sundresses, a cute halter top and a cute trunk for my office. Just yesterday a friend and I were talking about how I needed something to put all my costumes for work in rather than have to bring them home.  I lucked out when I walked in and found the perfect trunk for only $50!! I never even made it to the grocery store!

This will be cute for almost anything!  (Except work! lol!)

This is my second maxi dress.  I have to get up the nerve to wear it out though! I still haven’t worn the first one!

I’ve gotten to the point that I prefer wearing dresses to shorts on a hot day!

This is really colorful and I don’t usually do this much color, but it looks cute with a tan!

I took this straight to my office and put all my wigs, hats, and other costume items in it.  It makes my office look so much better!!!

Thank goodness for insurance!

Cooper decided to eat my Prada glasses the other day.  I went in to another room for a few minutes to change and when I got out, the glasses were in the process of being chewed  up!  Luckily, when I bought the glasses, I bought the insurance and when I took them to Lenscrafters, they ordered me a new pair for only $25.00!  Yea!  I can’t wait until they come in. In the mean time, I get to wear some lopsided glasses with teeth marks on the lenses!!

Couch 2 5K and KettleworX

Today, I finally made it running three miles without stopping.  I can’t believe I did it and didn’t feel like I was going to die!  I think the Couch 2 5K app on my iPhone is the best thing that I’ve ever done for my running. Since I didn’t go all out and try to get there too fast, I built up my endurance and got there without being discouraged and wanting to quit. It took a little longer for me than the eight weeks it was supposed to because I had things come up and I didn’t get to run on some days, but for some reason I still had the stamina when I started back.  Usually that is not the case with me. Usually if I skip a couple of days, I have to start from the start again.  I still have two more days of Couch 2 5K, but I have no doubts that I will be able to do it with no problem and I should be able to stick with it!!

I also began incorporating KettleworX in to my exercise routine.  I am now on week 2 of the program. Week one cardio had my legs so sore for a week. I kept at it though and now I have completed week 2 of cardio.  It already got harder and I hear that Week 3 is brutal!  I really like the KettleworX program.  The only thing I don’t like is that they used the same videos in the editing if it was the same exercise. I get tired of hearing the same stuff come out of the guy’s mouth each time.  But, aside from that it is a really good program. I also think it is helping me with my running because I’m getting stronger through the KettleworX program.  Did I mention that with warm up and cool down, the whole tape is 25 minutes!?  I love that it’s not too time consuming!!

A Cowboy Boot Giveaway

A Cowboy Boot Giveaway. I want to win!!

Can I add expert camper to my resume?

My favorite thing to do in the Austin area is to float the Guadalupe river.  I have enjoyed our annual trip with my Dallas friends for the last three years.  Last year was the first time we camped out there and we had such a great time, we decided to do it again.  My friends got there early and got to float on Friday, too.( I only got to float on Saturday.) We took the five hour excursion on Saturday and I loved every second of it.  We still had to walk a little this year, but not nearly as bad as last year during the drought. Luckily, we stay at Mountain Breeze campgrounds, because that part of the river is outside the city limit, so this is a no can ban area and people can drink on the river.

This year proved to be much more eventful than my previous camping trips. This year it decided to rain. Well, rain could be an understatement.  It POURED.  It was so scary because there was lightning, thunder and buckets of water being poured on us for about four hours straight. The electricity at the campsite went out, which is ok, because I really didn’t need a fan anyway. I was so cold last night. That’s really odd in July!! It didn’t help that I also forgot to bring sheets, pillows, and blankets. Luckily, the tent that I put up by myself didn’t leak too bad.  I can’t say the same thing about my friend’s tent.  I’ve decided that if it had to rain, I’m glad it happened on the last night. I don’t think I would have made it a second night had it rained the first night.

I set the tent up all by myself and even put the overhang tarp on by myself.

My friends classed it up a bit with the UT chair and yard art.  They even had Christmas lights.  Next year I’m going to have to do a little better with the decorations.

Had a great day floating on the Guadalupe River.

This was the bottom of my friend’s tent after the rain storm. I think they are going to have to get a new tent.

Never sweep again!!!??? REALLY!!!!???

While at the Walmart in Pflugerville today, I ran across the Slipper Genie!!  This slipper claims to clean your house as you walk around.  Say no more!!!! I was SOLD when I read that. I hate to sweep and with my new dog, Cooper, shedding everywhere, it’s getting to the point that I have to sweep daily. Well, they were only about $5.00, so I bought them and I’m trying them out to see if they work!!  They’re actually kind of comfortable, too! The other nice thing about them is that the sweeper part is velcroed on to the bottom of the slipper, so after a day of walking around my house cleaning, I can just remove the slipper sweeper part and throw it in the washing machine.  I sure hope this works.  I will NEVER sweep again if it does!!!!

Helpful Hint #1

I swear I don’t think I can put on a shirt or dress without getting deodorant all over it. Most of the time I don’t even notice until I am already where I planned on going, but every once in a while I catch it at home. I’ve been getting a wet towel and soaking my shirt to get the deodorant out, but then I get to go out with a wet spot. I looked it up and found a really good tip that really works!!

Get deodorant on your clothes.

Get a nylon and put it on your hand.

Rub it on the deodorant and voila! Deodorant gone!!

Italian Lemon Chicken

I love an easy recipe! I think this could be the easiest one I’ve made yet.  I put the Italian Lemon Chicken in the crockpot and when I got home, the house smelled SOOOOO good!!!  Once I ate it, I found out that it tasted just as good as it smelled!!!

Ingredients:

1 cube of butter
3 lemons (juiced)
2 packages of Italian Dressing Mix
Chicken

I threw all the ingredients in the crockpot.  The chicken was even frozen.

Crockpot was on high.  I was surprised that there was a lot of juice in the crockpot after cooking it a few hours.  Chicken is done when it hits 170 degrees.  It took about 3 – 4 hours.

YUM!  Seems like I should have thought to make a vegetable or something to eat with my chicken…but I guess I will have to learn how to do that another day!

Kettleworx

My friend over at Definitely Leopard has really gotten in to the Kettleworx work out plan. You use kettle bells to do different work outs. I did some research on the internet and found that most people that have done this plan really seem to like it. You only do 20 minutes of exercises and it is supposed to pay off like crazy. So today I went up to Target and bought my own program. I only bought the 5 lb. kettle bell package because I don’t want to start doing it and think it is too hard and quit. (It also came in a 10 lb. kettle bell package.) A bonus to buying the smaller weight is that the 10 lb. one was $61.99 and the 5 lb. one was $49.99. The whole program is much more expensive if you buy it online, so I recommend Target. If I keep it up, I totally realize I’m going to have to buy a 7 lb. kettle bell and then work my way up, but the bells really aren’t as expensive without all the videos. I’m really looking forward to trying to do the cardio weights video. I hear it is the hardest and most fun!!

I plan to do Kettleworx on my walk days since I’m already pretty far along with the Couch 2 5K plan that I’ve been doing. BTW, I’m almost done with Couch 2 5k and I can run 30 minutes straight right now.  By the end of the week, I’ll be at 3 miles and maybe a full 5k.
