Garmin – Forerunner 110 GPS-Enabled Sports Watch

I have decided I want to try running again.  I saw a training plan that didn’t look too difficult on Pinterest that I want to give a try.  I determined if I’m going to try to alternate running and walking on a time schedule, I really need a watch.  I ordered a new Garmin Watch from Best Buy today!  I can’t wait to get it!! I’ll let you know if it was worth the money once I get it in a few days! If anyone has any experience with this watch, please let me know what you think.

Cap 10K Expo

For the last couple of years I’ve done the Cap 10K in Austin. It’s almost as huge a race as the Turkey Trot in Dallas. This year I signed up for it, but I don’t get to do it because I have a birthday party to go to in Dallas. I went and got my shirt anyway, since I paid for it. While I was at the expo, I bought another iFitness belt. I figure that I really only need the double one if I’m going to have to carry my car keys. I need a smaller one for the day to day walks, which I do more often. I am extra excited about this one because it is a breast cancer awareness model! I can’t wait to try it out!

They also had a booth that sells earphones for the iPhone (or any other device you want to use them with). I have really small earholes, so I can’t even wear earphones when I run. These people swore that theres would work for me. You know what!!? I think they will!! I didn’t buy them there, though, because they sell these at Best Buy. Once I get them, they will probably get a whole blog to themselves!

Happy St. Cuban Day!

Had it not been for Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, the annual Dallas, TX. St. Patty’s Day Parade may not have happened this year.  This parade is probably the only cool thing that Dallas does. Austin has a festival/party almost every weekend, but Dallas really doesn’t seem to want to have cool things.  Well, luckily for Dallas, Mark Cuban came to the rescue and helped fund the parade.

I started out the day doing the Dash Down Greenville.  This year I made it about 2.5 miles before I decided I needed to alternate running and walking.  It took me 37 minutes to do the run.  It took Mike 31 minutes and I think Paul did it in 25 minutes.  After the run, they gave away free beer and other swag items that I didn’t really worry to much about.

After we went to the car to change for the parade, we tried to go to the Schlotzsky’s on Greenville, but despite the fact that they door said they opened at 10:30 and there were workers inside, they told us they wouldn’t be open until 2:00.  They must not enjoy making money to be closed on one of the busiest day Greenville Avenue has.  I also think they should have considered putting a sign on the door, but I guess it’s none of my business how they run theirs.

The parade was a blast as usual. We stood at our annual spot and cheered on the “floats” and screamed to get free beads. Every year I think that our group should enter our own float since I haven’t ridden on a float and given the princess wave since college. We only have to find someone who wants to build and store the float somewhere.  Any takers?

Best Running Shorts Ever

I absolutely love the Nike running shorts. I love how they have that flap of material on the side that helps hide my “problem area”.  The only thing I don’t like about them is the price.  I’ve found them costing anywhere from $20 – $30.  I don’t usually like to spend that much money for shorts that I only wear to run, but I usually do anyway.  Well, I was really excited when I was at Marshall’s and found them for $14.99!!! If they would have had more, I would have bought them all. This may mean a trip to all the Marshall’s in the area to find some more!!
