Barton Creek Mall

It’s 72 degrees outside today in Austin, Texas. The sun is shining.  I’m wearing shorts and a t-shirt.  It’s a beautiful day.  I go to Barton Creek Mall to pick up my new Prada glasses.  While I’m there, I decide to go to Macy’s because my sister has told me that she heard they have Miss Me Jeans on sale.  (I found one style on sale, but they had flap pockets and those don’t look good on me.) Since they don’t have any I like, I look around at all their sale stuff and I find beautiful jackets/coats on sale for $29.00.  I am pretty much obsessed with coats.  It could be 105 degrees out and if I saw a coat I thought was cute, I’d buy it. I find a beautiful brown coat with leopard trim in my size.  It kind of reminds me of my friend whose favorite color is leopard and since I like leopard, too, I have to have it!. I go up to buy the coat and the saleslady tells me they are $59.00.  I don’t really need a coat for that much money, since winter is basically over.  I tell her that they are all on the $29.00 rack, so she lets me have it for that price.  WOOHOO!! SCORE!!!! I may not be able to wear this coat today, but I am now ready for any cold weather we may get for the rest of the Fall!!

Explore UT

Today was Explore UT.  People from all over the state come check out all the great things about The University of Texas.  Every year since i’ve been in Austin, I’ve had to miss it.  This year, I finally got to go!  We spent the entire day roaming from building to building, activity to activity. We started out at the Ransom Museum and saw the first book published, the Bible, and the first photograph ever taken.  That got us off to a great start.  We then went to see a rose shattered, ball shattered like glass, bananas turned in to hammers and lots of other cool experiments at the Chemical Engineering area. The kids enjoyed water balloons catapulted on them and a group of UT students as they caught themselves on fire. We went to Gregory Gym where the boys were “traumatized for life” when they walked into the sauna where there were some naked men.  From there, we went and had Amy’s ice cream at the Law School and then to the top of the tower.  As we walked to the Blanton Museum, we stopped to get our names written in a bunch of different languages. Overall it was a very fun day. The organizer of the group did a great job!  Hook ‘Em Horns UT fans!!

Have Pants, Ready to Ski!

I’m going skiing for the first time since about 2005. I went to check my closet to see how my ski clothes have held up and when I tried on my pants, I realized that they were too big and I need new ski pants. My “super athletic, good looking” friend and I went to REI to see if they had anything. They were having really good sales on ski clothes, but they only had the Northface stretch pants in XS and XL.  I wear small.  I tried the other kind, but they just aren’t as flattering, (and we know that’s more important than if they keep me warm).  We called another REI and the Sun and Ski, but neither of them had my size either.  Finally, we called St. Bernard Sports and found out they had them! Since it was getting late, we rushed over there and got them immediately.  They were more expensive than the ones at REI, but Mike said that unless I got the ones I wanted, I wouldn’t be happy.  He’s probably right.  I’m pretty excited to have name brand ski pants!! Image

While we were there, we talked to the guy about waxing my friend’s snowboard.  “Sure, no problem!” they told us.  Well turned out it was a problem, because when he brought his board there, they told him it couldn’t be ready by the time we go skiing.  Is there really that many people getting their snowboards waxed in Austin at this time???  Well, luckily, we found Sun and Ski and they will be able to get it done in just a couple of days!! Thank you Sun and Ski!  I wish you would have had my ski pants in my size. I would have bought from you instead!!

Dazzle

I am not a true coffee drinker.  I can pretty much only handle it if it is a caramel latte or something just as sweet.  There are no coffee shops where I live, so I only have coffee about once over the weekends. When I go, I go to Dazzle Coffee in Pflugerville.  Dazzle is my most favorite coffee place ever!!

Today, I was the alternate receiver for a coffee drink! My “super good looking, athletic” friend brought coffee for someone at work, but she wasn’t here, so guess who got her drink?!! MEEEEEE!!! He brought a caramel freezian with whipped cream!  It was amazing!! This is my lucky day!!

Moving day!

I’ve decided I want to continue blogging, but not with blogger.  So, here I am! I’m a wordpress girl now!  I hope this is as easy as blogger or my days will be numbered!!

Boo!

I don’t know if I’m going to keep blogging.  I was having fun with it, but a big part of that was seeing what kind of ads I got on my page with each new post and if I had earned any money.  Even though I never clicked on my own ads, they turned it off.  It may not be as much fun without the ads.  I may change to another blog site if I find another easy one.  We’ll see.

The Hounds of Baskerville

We go walking at 4:00 in the morning on most days and you never know what kind of wildlife you might see. We’ve seen skunks, snakes, opossums, armadillo, and rabbit to name a few. I’m pretty sure the HUGE German Shepherds and big white dog were not wildlife, but they can be really scary when they come running up to greet you.  These dogs were obviously someone’s pets.  Of the three, one of them came right up and wanted to walk with us, one kept a safe distance from us, and the big white one never even came close.  I hope the people that are missing these dogs find them before something happens to them!

Online shopping

I’m at a point that I want to do more online shopping.  What are some of the sites that you all like to go to for… well, just about anything!?  I want sites that aren’t ridiculously expensive.  The only one I can think of right now is ideeli!  I need some suggestions!

Lady Bird Lake

One of the best things about Austin is Lady Bird Lake.  We LOVE to walk or run around it every chance we get.  Yesterday was even better because I got to walk around it with a few of my favorite people.  I’ve never really walked with a little girl before, but it was hilarious.  She would RUN really fast to a set point and then tell us she was tired.  We gave her jobs to do like counting the turtles she saw or the dogs she saw.  That kept her pretty happy until she fell.  Poor thing nearly died!  Really it was just a scratch, but to a five year old, that’s pretty traumatic.  She got to ride in the stroller on the way back, so all was good.
When we got to the end of the walk, we decided to do some lunges.  I’ve gotten obsessed with lunges and try to do them at least every other day.  I’m at about 110 lunges on each leg.  Next week I think I’ll bump it up a bit.
Once we finished the walk, we had to wait on our super athletic friend that went around it twice in the time it took us to do 2 miles.  While we waited we played a game of Fitness Simon Says.  We did jumping jacks, stair steps, squats, prison squats and knee ups.  That really kicked our work out to a different level.
After we got our fitness on, we went to one of my favorite places:  PLUCKERS!!!  I’m pretty sure all the hard work we did was negated by the few hours we spent enjoying ourselves!

The dogs love to chase balls in to the water at Lady Bird Lake!

Head of the Class

Cooper FINALLY started his first day of puppy school!!   After having lots of issues with the Petco training class, the manager at PetSmart invited us to try out their training classes.  I’m pretty sure this could be one of the luckiest breaks Cooper could have gotten!!  Their trainer is amazing!!  She kept the class informative in an engaging way!
We got there a little early, so we walked around the store. Since they had a scale there, we decided Cooper needed to be weighed!  Our boy has really grown! He is now 29 lbs!!!  When we finally got in to the classroom area, Cooper proceeded to pee twice.  We’re so proud!  lol! He just gets really excited.

Cooper started out very shy.  He had to be near Mike, I’m not sure if he thought he was protecting Mike, but I think that could have been running through his mind.

There are three dogs in the class.  Cooper and two dogs named Charlie.  Black Charlie looks a lot like Cooper, but with shorter hair.  That was his best friend during socialization time.  Brown Charlie really was kind of nervous with the other two.

The trainer seemed to like Charlie and used him as an example a couple of times.  She said that he is an English Lab, so Mike and I will have to start speaking to him in a British accent!

By the end of class, Cooper was beat!! He had a great time and we learned a lot. I can’t wait to do some of the things that the trainer taught us!!
